It has been proven throughout Scripture that whenever God is getting ready to do something, He always reveals Himself.

  • When He was getting ready to create the Heavens and Earth, He revealed Himself to Himself – He moved over the waters
  • When He wanted to birth a nation, He spoke to Avram
  • When He was ready to deliver Isra’el from Egypt, He showed Himself to Moshe
  • When He was getting ready to take Isra’el into their promised land, He appeared to Y’hoshua
  • When He was getting ready to redeem humanity, He became flesh
  • Now that He’s about to do something new, He has me talking to you

Such revelation – the way He chooses to make Himself known – is an indication of what He’s going to do.

Genesis 17:1-2 CJB “When Avram was 99 years old YHVH appeared to Avram and said to him, ‘I am El Shaddai [God Almighty]. Walk in My Presence and be pure-hearted. I will make My covenant between Me and you, and I will increase your numbers greatly’ “

In order to serve justice to the name ‘Almighty’ we should look at it from its root as well as its context.
    Root
The Hebrew word for ‘Almighty’ is Shadday; it speaks of YHVH as The Powerful One, The All Mighty One or The Omnipotent One.

    Context
Looking at it in its context requires going back to Genesis 12. It is there that God told Abram “…Go…to the land that I will show you. I will make of you a great nation… (Genesis 12:1-2 MEV emphasized).

Having got to the land, the LORD said to him: “…I…brought you out of Ur…to give you this land to possess it” (Genesis 15:7 MEV).
Now in chapter sixteen, Scripture reveals that they “…had been living for ten years in the land…” yet no sight of the promise (Genesis 16:3 MEV). It was then Sarai took matters into her own hands – she “…took Hagar her maid, the Egyptian, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife…and [Hagar] conceived” (Genesis 16:3-4 MEV personalized). Thirteen years later “…the LORD appeared to [Avram] and said, ‘I am El Shaddai. Walk in My Presence and be pure-hearted’ ” (Genesis 17:1).

From this context it is obvious that El Shaddai – I am Almighty God is not confined to Him being the Powerful-All Mighty-Omnipotent One. It more so renders Him as the One in Control. In other words, when God said to Avram “I Am El Shaddai” He was making Abram aware that “I can do whatever I choose to do whenever I choose to” – “I Am the One in Control”.

Like Avram, many of you have been in the wait. You’ve been on the lookout wondering “When will This Thing Be?”
It took Avram 25 years of waiting to birth the promise of being a great nation; greatness isn’t something which happens overnight. Being or becoming great requires time. I do not know how long you’ve been in the wait but in 2017, the Powerful-All Mighty-Omnipotent One, the One in Control is revealing Himself to you and you will Triumph!!! Now the reason why you should be delighted that He is choosing to reveal Himself to you in this manner, is because He also disclosed Himself in this manner to Yitz’chak – Isaac and Ya’akov – Jacob {Check Exodus 6:3}. In other words, the promise He has set before you and is coming to launch will go beyond your lifetime; it’s generational. 2017 is your time of overcoming victories. In 2017, you will receive the launch you’ve been promised.
