In a prophetic encounter Thursday, March 23rd, I saw many who are currently in a state of confusion – wondering what to do. Then I heard Holy Ghost say: “Stay Sober! Stay Alert! Stand Firm In Your Trust! For you are in an hour which requires agility; so you’ve got to be able to move, think and understand quickly. Stay Sober! Stay Alert and Stand Firm In Your Trust!“ (1 Peter 5:8-9).
Although staying sober is readily associated with the consumption level of alcohol, Apostle Peter used this terminology as a gateway to convey spiritual truth. Naturally speaking, the more alcohol we consume, the more intoxicating we become. The less we use, the more sober/stable we are. Someone who has consumed a high level of alcohol finds it difficult to think or even communicate properly, because s/he is under the influence of alcohol. It’s as if they’ve lost their mind – the ability to process their thoughts as they usually would. As believers, we have the mind of Yeshua HaMashiyach (1 Corinthians 2:16). Whenever we find ourselves in a state of confusion, it’s as if we’ve become intoxicated. We lose the ability to think and operate from the mindset of Yeshua and in such moments we’re relying on our own. This is a plot of the adversary; the same he used on Eve to have them abort their mandate. Knowing that whoever controls your mind will influence your actions, he’s seeking to gain a stronghold in your life. However, although he’s knocking at your door, you do not have to let him in and neither do you have to be afraid. Go to your door and say ‘Get Off This Property; It Belongs To My Lord!’. Don’t lose the mind of Christ; seek to develop it in your life.
Interestingly, staying sober and alert works hand in hand. Staying alert has to do with being watchful or attentive. Now as long as we are sober, staying alert is easy. Folks who are intoxicated are often drowsy – they easily fall asleep and cannot function as they should. So the more sober we are, the more alert/attentive/watchful and active we’ll be.
In Scripture, being watchful is a terminology often associated with prayer/intercession. We have an example of this while Yeshua HaMashiyach and His disciples were in the Garden of Gethsemane; He asked “…Couldn’t you watch with Me even one hour?” (Matthew 26:40 NLT). Sadly, they had fallen asleep. The watchmen who should have been on the lookout were overtaken by the spirit of slumber who, like the spirit of confusion, disables you. Watchmen are not only stationed to sound the alarm, they are also required to join the fight – “Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in…” (Matthew 26:41 NLT).
The hour in which we’re standing is not one for rest/relaxation. We are in a time of warfare; so don’t lose the mind of Christ and don’t be distracted. Stay sober and alert in and through Yeshua HaMashiyach; don’t give in. Fight back knowing that we cannot lose.
Stand Firm In Your Trust!
If you’re going to stand firm in your trust, then you should know where it is. Where is your trust? Is it in your military strength/ability? King David proclaimed: “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we praise the name of YHVH our God” (Psalm 20:8 CJB verse 7 in other translations). Is it within your parents, siblings, relatives, spouse, friends, iconic-figure/role-model or leaders? The Psalmist made it clear that “It is better to take refuge in YHVH than to trust in human beings; better to take refuge in YHVH than to put one’s trust in princes” (Psalm 118:8-9 CJB). Wherever your trust is, that’s where you’ll take refuge – that’s where you’ll hide yourself.
Whether your trust is in your military strength/ability, your parents, siblings, relatives, spouse, friends, iconic-figure/role-model or leaders, Prophet Jeremiah revealed that “…A curse [is] on the person who trusts in humans, who relies on merely human strength, whose heart turns away from YHVH” (Jeremiah 17:5 CJB personalized). On the other hand, “Those who trust in YHVH are like Mount Tziyon, which cannot be moved but remains forever” (Psalm 125:1 CJB).
Here’s a little trust secret – you can and will only put your trust in what you know.
Warriors, Stay Sober, Stay Alert and Stand Firm In Your Trust because “…YHVH gives victory to his anointed one—He will answer him from His Holy Heaven with mighty victories by His right hand” (Psalm 20:7 CJB verse 6 in other translations).
