As we are aware, Pesakh/Pesach (pronounced pay-sack) is an annual holy day and feast commemorating God’s deliverance of Isra’el from the slavery of Egypt. It was given as a designated reminder and celebration of YHVH’s act of mercy. Yet according to Scripture, after the community of Isra’el had observed Pesakh/Pesach “…in the Sinai Desert in the first month of the second year after they had left…Egypt…” (Numbers 9:1 CJB), there were some who were excluded from the celebration. These “…people who had become unclean because of someone’s corpse…could not observe Pesach on that day. So they came before Moshe and Aharon…and said to him, ‘We are unclean because of someone’s corpse; but why must we be kept from bringing the offering for [YHVH] at the time designated for the people of Isra’el?’ Moshe answered them, ‘Wait, so that I can hear what [YHVH] will order concerning you’ “ (Numbers 9:6-8 CJB personalized and emphasized). As a result of this, YHVH told Moshe, “Tell the people of Isra’el, ‘If any of you now or in the future generations is unclean because of a corpse, or if he is on a trip abroad…he is to observe Pesach…in the second month on the fourteenth day at dusk. They are to eat matzah and maror” (Numbers 9:10-11 CJB emphasized).

So Pesakh/Pesach Sheni – The Second Passover came into effect because of the cry of some folks who were excluded from the first celebration. Although they were ruled out by the standards, when their cry came before YHVH He granted mercy for a second chance. Within Pesakh/Pesach Sheni is the resounding cry to YHVH “Don’t Count Me Out!!!”

Many of you are currently at that place right now; the system has ruled you out, marking you disqualified. For whatever reason, you have been labelled “unfit”. Jabez’s mother had labelled him unfit {Check 1 Chronicles 4:9-10}, Ya’akov had termed Leah disqualified {Check Genesis 29:31-35}, Rachel and Hannah were both pronounced ineligible {Check Genesis 30; 1 Samuel 1-2:11}; the woman with the issue of blood was cut off {Check Matthew 9:20-22; Mark 5:25-34; Luke 8:43-48}; but the God of Mercy, the God of a second chance, heard their cry and proclaimed: “…I [am He who] show favour to whomever I will, and I display mercy to whomever I will” (Exodus 33:19 CJB personalized).

Today is that day – Pesakh/Pesach Sheni. On this 14th day of Iyar, 5777 or 10th May, 2017 may you realize that it’s never too late to worship and thank YHVH for His miracles and mercy. Moreso, may you find the courage to grab hold of the horns of the altar and cry out to the God of Mercy “Don’t Count Me Out!!!”
