I was getting ready to go to a 50th Birthday celebration when I heard “It’s time for the Amen”. The Scripture, “…however many promises God has made, they all find their ‘Yes’ in connection with Him; that is why it is through Him that we say the ‘Amen’ when we give glory to God” (2 Corinthians 1:20 CJB) readily came to mind.

For most folks, Amen is readily associated with the closing of a prayer. Yet Amen signifies more than just a closure. Apostle Paul told Corinthians that Amen gives glory to God. This brings a vital question into play – how does Amen give glory to God? According to Scripture, YHVH is “the God of Truth” (Isaiah 65:16) and He is “the Amen” (Revelation 3:14). While most Bible versions renders Him in Isaiah 65:16 as “the God of Truth”, the Hebrew word from which “Truth” is derived is ‘Āmēn (pronounced ah-mayne). Although ‘Āmēn means firm, faithful, truth, to confirm, let it be so, it is frequently used by Yeshua HaMashiyach to emphasize His words. In such cases it is translated as “verily” and only in John’s Gospel account is it repeated at the beginning of which Yeshua is going to say: “Verily, verily”

When ‘Āmēn is released/applied by Yeshua HaMashiyach, it is to confirm that which He has spoken as well as to invoke the fulfillment of those words. So in John’s Gospel account where it comes before and is doubled, it’s a declaration that even before He has spoken the promise or promises, they are already established and in manifestation.

Messianic Community, the moment Yeshua HaMashiyach releases an ‘Āmēn, He is literally placing Himself – His Presence to such promises and in the same breath, He invokes their fulfillment. In literal sense, He steps into covenant with whatever He promises. So His ‘Āmēn is equivalent to a modern day signature. I’m not trying to stir emotions, but that right there is worth a shout of praise.

More importantly, we must understand that the moment YHVH gave us His Promises they were rendered as “Yes” – “For however many promises God has made [to you], they all find their ‘Yes’ in connection with Him…” (2 Corinthians 1:20 CJB personalized). Now, because we have contended for those promises – upholding them as Truth – accepting them as Yes – YHVH is coming in this time to apply His signature. Ekklēsia, the God of Amen – the Amen Himself has come to set into accelerated motion the fulfillment of the very things He told you are “Yes”.
